Asus Eee Pad Transformer Tablet Vs iPad3

The Asus Eee Pad Transformer Tablet has emerged as a new mobile tablet that is great for productivity due to it's ability to transform from a powerful tablet to a light-weight and mobile laptop.

The Transformer tablet is one that can be used up to 10 hours without a charge and then another 6-8 hours once it's plugged into the dock keyboard which has it's own battery power.

Another interesting and excellent feature is that it is Adobe Flash ready, has a MicroSD card and also has an HDMI port for more functionality and accessibility as opposed to the iPad 2 and possibly the iPad 3.

The platform is run on Google's android software and is primed for an "Ice Cream Sandwich" update from the "Honeycomb" that it's currently running. This system has been touted as a more flexible and robust system than the ever popular king of mobile software proprietary iOS.

The real question is: Is the Android based Asus Eee Transformer tablet one that will overtake the iPad 2 or iPad 3?

This is very subjective in that the iPad 3 has yet to be released and only rumours and speculation exist as to the features that will be found on the new tablet.

Ultimately, one must decide what is the most important use and price point that they are comfortable in. Also, whether or not they are "Apple heads" and want the ease of use that all Apple products have with one another. In other words, if you have an iMac, iPhone and iPod then it makes sense that you would consider the iPad first.

However, one should also consider the usage of the devices. If you are doing lots of typing and require more battery life then the Asus might be a better option as it includes the keyboard (purchased for $ 150 extra). If you are simply wanting a device to browse the internet, play music and read ebooks then either will do just fine.

Another consideration is the processor. The Asus has a new Quad Core Tegra processor which is lightning fast and can play games seamlessly and also can amount to lesser power usage as it is able to turn off cores not in use.

Again, it would be simply speculation to say whether or not the iPad 3 is going to have an equally strong processor at this point, but it is likely to have an increased power as this is one feature that is often upgraded along with a possible new screen and camera's.

In conclusion, it is a difficult choice that one will have to make to ensure that they end up with the right tablet. Preference, cost and function are definitely things that I would consider when about to purchase.
