Asus Transformer Review

It should come as no shock that the Asus eee Transformer name is becoming a staple in the world of tablets. The original Asus Transformer was a good product in itself. Despite some flaws, it provided all around solid quality. However, Asus has taken the tablet game to a whole new level with the introduction of the Asus Transformer Prime.

Introducing the Asus Transformer Prime:

The Asus Transformer Prime is revolutionary in the fact that it combines the uniqueness and ability of a netbook with the portability of a tablet. Also known as the Asus Eee Transformer, the Asus Transformer Prime features a unique dock that can be bought separately to complement the tablet. This isn't some small upgrade that provides little value. In fact, the upgrade provides the user with an experience that has been unseen on the tablet market up to this point. The dock comes with an external keyboard that makes typing a breeze as well as extra slots for optimizing the usage that the tablet is capable of (USB 2.0 slot etc).

Features of the Asus Eee Transformer:

-- Offers the 3.2 Honeycomb OS that can actually be upgraded to the newest android OS (ICS)

-- multitasking is a breeze with the NVIDEA Tegra 3 quad-core processor

-- Comes in 2 different storage size (32 GB and 64GB) with other storage options (MicroSD)

-- Good battery life compared to other tablets (up to 16 hours with dock)

-- Offered in 2 distinct colors - Amethyst Grey and Champagne

-- Did we mention the expandable dock? REVOLUTIONARY

-- 1 GB SDDR2 RAM

-- Rear facing camera (whopping 8 Mp) and front facing camera (1.2 Mp)

-- 10.1" HD screen that is very slim (0.33") and lightweight (1.29 lbs)

Why we think you will like the prime:

The prime is fully upgradeable to the very newest android OS, ICS (Ice cream Sandwich). Not only is this a neat option but we highly recommend that you take full advantage of this option as the ICS OS is better optimized for the prime's quad-core CPU. If you like multitasking you will fall in love with this tablet as it is simply powerful.

While the HD screen is a nice bonus to the tablet, there is more to the screen than meets the eye. The screen features the Super IPS+ (more screen clarity) and is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass to help protect it from damage.

While the specs. look great and there are a lot of great features, we all know that price plays a major role in our decision-making process. The Asus Transformer Prime price is average at about $ 600. While this may seem like a lot of money, it is cheaper than competitor products that are of equal specs. If money is a little tight and you like it but just can't scrape out the money, go for the original Asus Transformer and you will find a lot of the same great qualities with a cheaper price (~$ 300).

In Conclusion:

Don't leave home without it! But really, this is one of the top if not the top android powered tablet on the market and is sure to brighten anyone's day. While there are some bugs here and there, these are to be expected as tablets are still fairly new in general. There have been complaints about the weak wi-fi signal and the gps capability. However, most of us have our own personal gps. As far as wi-fi goes, it is a bit weaker than other electronic devices we typically used, but still not a game changer. Buying from a respectable source means you can always test it out and take it back!
