You can easily take notes, highlight something on a website and more. This is a perfect example of modern technology merging with the convenience of using a pen. The screen is extremely responsive to the S Pen making it a joy to use.
As for software, the Samsung Galaxy Note comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The company promises an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the coming months, which will also be a free update. All phones from this manufacturer comes with a unique user interface overlay called TouchWhiz. These are various improvements over stock Android and very welcome changes.
The hardware itself is a polycarbonate plastic. If you purchase the Galaxy Note in the US, AT&T is the exclusive carrier. This is expected to change in the coming months. This particular model comes in a Carbon Blue. Those of you outside of the US can purchase the international model which comes in a beautiful ceramic white. Other carriers including Sprint, Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile are expected to carry this phone by the third quarter of 2012.
Last year became a year where phones releases started to blend into each other. Even companies are changing their release strategies in 2012, announcing their intent to release less models. Thankfully, the focus is on creating less models, but phones that really push the bar. The Samsung Galaxy Note is stunning example of how this strategy is working and consumers will certainly benefit.
